Gravtiy Backdrops are handpainted canvas backdrops specially designed for photography and videography. They are handcrafted by artists and highly educated academic painters in the Serbian City of Nis.
Dr. Miodrag "Mimi" Stojanovic
Dr. Miodrag „Mimi“ Stojanovic wurde 1974 in Zajecar, Serbien, geboren. Bereits sein Vater war Fotograf und lehrte Fotografie in der Schule seines Sohnes. Mimi sagt von sich selbst er sei in einer Dunkelkammer groß geworden. In der 8. Klasse begann er an Videowettbewerben teilzunehmen und gewann in den folgenden sechs Jahren mehrere nationale Titel. Im Alter von 20 Jahren begann er sich ausschließlich der Fotografie zu widmen. Während seines Medizinstudiums in Nis, Serbien, reiste Mimi quer durch die Welt. Durch die Reisefotografie beschäftigte er sich hauptsächlich mit Landschaften und Menschen. Durch seine Fotoserie aus den Ostserbischen Minen, wo er Minenarbeiter portraitierte, erzeugte er internationale Aufmerksamkeit. Dr. Miodrag Stojanovic ist Professor der Medizin und Director am Institute for Public Health in Nis, Leiter seiner eigenen Fotoschule und Eigentümer und Gründer von Gravity Backdrops.
The founder Dr. Miodrag „Mimi“ Stojanovic was born in 1974 in Zajecar, Serbia. His dad was a photography teacher at his son's school and therefore Mimi's first motivation and inspiration to start taking photos. Mimi says that „he grew up in a dark room“. In 8th grade he started to compete in videography contests and won several national trophies in the following years. At age 20 he dedicated himself exclusively to photography. During his time in medical school Mimi travelled a lot and focused on travel photography mainly shooting landscape and humans. The portrait series of miners he shot in eastern Serbia led to international attention. Dr. Miodrag Stojanovic is a medical doctor, professor and director at the Institute of Public Health in Nis, Serbia, owner and founder of Gravity Backdrops and professional photographer.
